The geographical indication applications of Curly Lamb Meat, Kırklareli White Cheese and Oak Honey were concluded with registration.
Lambs, benefiting from the rich and endemic vegetation of Kırklareli, deserve to be registered with their high quality. One of the major factors in geographical indication registration is that the lambs are fed with the low leaves of the trees in the provincial forests and acorns. From now on, the inspections from the birth of curly lambs to their slaughter and marketing will now be carried out by the Kırklareli Sheep and Goat Breeders Association.
Kırklareli White Cheese, another registered geographical indication of Kırklareli, is produced with shirdan yeast obtained from the stomach of calves/kids who have not started to eat grass and are fed with milk. The registration will enable to maintain the tradition and quality enduring since the 18th century.
The Kırklareli Oak Honey, easily distinguished from other types of honey with its dark color and molasses-like taste, will be inspected by the Kırklareli Directorate of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry.
