A New Era for Domain Name Registration in Türkiye: TRABIS

domain name trabis

In accordance with the protocol signed between the Middle East Technical University (METU) and the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) on 21 December 2018, all authorizations regarding the management and allocation of “.tr” domain names have been transferred from Nic.tr to BTK. In this regard, it is announced that the transfer of the management of “.tr” domain names to BTK will be completed and TRABIS will become operational on September 14, 2022.

Once TRABIS becomes operational, there will be several changes regarding the management and ownership of domain names. In this regard, the most significant change is that the users who wish to have a “com.tr,” “org.tr” or “net.tr” domain name will not have to submit any documents throughout the application process. Therefore, the allocation of domain names with the extensions “net.tr”, “org.tr” and “com.tr” will be carried out in the order of priority in terms of time, without requiring any documents, within the scope of the “first come, first served” principle.
